We in the Parish of St Joseph and St Benildus and St Mary’s believe that the active involvement of children and young people is vital to the life of the Parish as it continues the mission of Jesus. We value and encourage the participation of children and young people in parish liturgies and in pastoral activities that enhance their spiritual, physical, emotional and social development.
With this in mind we have implemented the Safeguarding Children Policy and Safeguarding Children Procedures within the parish in accordance with the protocols established by the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church. We’ve taken on board and implemented a code of conduct/behaviour for all adults working with young people in the Parish and also have a code of conduct for children and young people. In addition we have undertaken a safety assessment of the Parish Centre and are in the process of completing upgrading works within the premises to ensure the ongoing safety of the children and young people who use the centre. We have displayed in the entrance porch of each Church details of the designated person who can be contacted in relation to the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people in our Parish.
