DESCRIPTION:Prayer\, music and reflection beside the river\n\n\n\n\n\n***DUE TO RAIN\, TODAY’S (12 SEPTEMBER 2026) SEASON OF CREATION PRAYER SERVICE HAS MOVED INDOORS TO THE BENILDUS PARISH CENTRE – SAME TIME\, 10.30AM\, ALL WELCOME.*** \n\n\n\nAs part of the Season of Creation\, St Joseph’s\, St Benildus’ & St. Mary’s Parish warmly invites parishioners and the wider community to an outdoor prayer service on the theme of Living Water (Ezekiel 47:9\, 12). \n\n\n\nThis year’s Season of Creation calls us to reflect on water – the source of life\, a sign of the Spirit\, and a gift too often taken for granted. Our service will include scripture readings from Ezekiel and John’s Gospel\, prayers of thanksgiving for the blessing of water\, a time of lament for the ways we have neglected and polluted this precious resource\, and a closing blessing calling us to go forth rooted like trees along Ezekiel’s river. \n\n\n\nCost: Free \n\n\n\nCome and join us for this reflective and prayerful celebration of God’s gift of water\, and be renewed in our shared call to care for our common home. \n\n\n\nPlease note: Attendees are encouraged to bring a folding chair for comfort. In the event of poor weather\, the service will move to the Benildus Parish Centre. No 10.30 am Mass in the parish on that day.

DESCRIPTION:A guided walk exploring Living Water in action\, with ecologist Katriina Bent\n\n\n\n\n\nMeeting point: The Burrows car park (the gravel car park furthest towards the dunes) \n\n\n\nDuration: Approximately 1 hour 45 minutes \n\n\n\nFree event – Suitable for most abilities \n\n\n\nAs part of the Season of Creation\, the St Joseph’s\, St Benildus’ & St. Mary’s Parish Eco Group invites you to join a guided walk exploring “Living Water” (Ezekiel 47:9\, 12) through the lens of local conservation – from the migrating waterbirds of Tramore Back Strand to the dune restoration work of the Tramore Eco Group (TEG). \n\n\n\nWe’ll begin at the Tramore Back Strand Special Protection Area (SPA)\, one of Ireland’s designated “Blue Dot” waters – surface waters identified under the EU Water Framework Directive as being in high ecological status\, requiring special protection from decline. Here we’ll observe the first arriving migratory waterbirds and discuss how to protect the Eelgrass (Zostera) beds they depend on to recover from their long journeys\, as well as the quiet threat posed by invasive species. \n\n\n\nFrom there\, we’ll move on to the Tramore Sand Dunes Special Area of Conservation (SAC) – one of Ireland’s highest dune systems\, rich in rare species and human history\, and increasingly under pressure from climate change and human activity. We’ll see first-hand the work Tramore Eco Group volunteers are doing to restore the dunes\, including planting Marram grass (the “dune-builder”) and erecting chestnut fencing to help the dunes rebuild naturally. \n\n\n\nThere will be plenty of time for questions and discussion along the way. \n\n\n\nAll welcome!
