New Cemetery in Ballgunner
We are pleased to confirm that renovation works on the paths in the new cemetery in Ballygunner are nearly completed. We are delighted with the quality of the work; a special thank you to the contractor, Peter O’Loughlin, the architect, Mr Brian Cooke of RPD and engineer, Mr Jim Griffin who was responsible for the design. We were very conscious of the fact that the deterioration in the condition of the pathways was such that it posed a health and safety hazard to visitors to the graveyard.
Steps have also been introduced to make it safer for pedestrians to cross the new roadway from the carpark to access the church.
The waste disposal bins will be located at a new purpose built area at the entrance to the new road-way. We appeal to people to put all rubbish from graves into the bins and we ask not to dispose of house-hold rubbish in this way.
We are in the process of planning to extend the graveyard. Geophysical surveys have been conducted and we have identified the area suitable for development. A planning application will be lodged soon
