Preparing for Baptism
In our parish, of St Joseph and St Benildus & St Mary, we now have a Baptismal Preparation Team. The aim of this group is to help parents understand and prepare for the sacred celebration of Baptism and for the days that follow.
After you have booked your child’s baptism, you will be invited to attend a baptism preparation meeting. The Baptismal Preparation Team will welcome your child to the parish and will help you prepare for the Sacrament of Baptism. This is your opportunity to voice any issues that concern you, or ask about any particular aspects of the ceremony that you find confusing.
As representatives of the parish community, our team can offer support to families, so that parents can guide their child on their Christian faith journeys.
At present we have eight members in our Baptismal Preparation Team, all lay people.
