Water Management Facilities fall into different types:

  • Rainfall harvesting from roofs, with storage in tanks.
Typically applied to structures such as schools or individual houses.
  • Rainfall harvesting from roofs / land runoff,
stored in in-ground ponds (known as waterpans, but resembling small swimming pools).
Typically applied to small farmstead households.
  • Large river capture dams, which capture water in the natural valley upstream of the creek during the rainy season.
Typically shared by a community rather than individual families.
  • Large water storage tanks filled seasonally from the water network, and used in the dry season when the network pipes run dry.
