3 WEEKS PROGRESS REPORT
Induction meeting
Induction meeting was conducted successfully with Kianthenge Catholic Church members and the community members around Kamavaru. The local administration was also was informed about the commencement of Kamavaru sand dam construction. Members present during the induction meeting were very optimistic and they all agreed to support the construction work till the end. Expert from Sassol Company were also present and we had an opportunity of sharing and planning together as a team. The team from Sassol gave the participants guidelines on what is expectedfrom them. Participants were given clear direction on the size and type of the hardcoreand sand required
First week
After the induction meeting the first week was set for mobilization of locally available construction materials that is hardcore and sand where the 30 participants were supposed to carry 4 wheelbarrows of hardcore each day for 6 days and so a total of 24 wheel barrowsper person in the week. The 30 participants adhered to the guidelines and by the end of the week they had all mobilized the required quantity of hardcore and well placed for start of the work. Upon completion of the hardcore mobilization and assembling all the 30 participants were facilitated with their lunch allowances of ksh 1800 per person and so a total of ksh 54,000 was spent in the week.

Second week
The Sassol team started the second week by bringing on ground their skilled laborers to demarcate the site which was done again in presence of the 30 community members who therefore started the excavation of the demarcated site on the same day. As per the time scheduled it was agreed that the excavation would take a total of 9 days thus to be undertaken within the second week and greater part of week three. In this specific week, the excavation was done and by closure of the week almost 70% of the excavation work had been done. In this week a total of ksh 36,000 was used to facilitate the community lunch allowances.

Third week
The week involved the completion of the excavation work and the actual commencement of the construction work. After the excavation work was done successfully actual construction started on the third week. During the construction the 30 participants continued to offer the unskilled labour services whereby gender inclusivity was well considered by ensuring that both men and women participated effectively in the process. Critical roles during the construction period are mortal making, concrete making using the hardcore, mortal and metallic pillars. In the week a total of ksh 45,000 was spent in facilitating the community members with their lunch allowances.
